The Swift Parakeet
One of a handful of published volumes on the stunning Swift parakeet found only in Tasmania, Australia. A parakeet that is under serious threat in the wild but which is successfully bred in captivity in Europe. This monograph looks at the bird in the wild but most significantly explores the requirements for keeping in captivity and successful breeding. The advice on feeding is particularly informative. This is a parakeet more akin to a softbill bird as it's first choice of food is nectar, pollen and fruit.
